On the 2nd day of class when we did the decision-making continuum I fell into the no idea category. When we did this activity I felt nervous since I realized that I really had no idea as to what I wanted to major in, but once we started filling out our goal sheets I felt confident that this class would help me greatly in choosing a major which it did. This class has taught me that some of my beliefs about choosing a career or major were myths. I use to think that whatever you majored in would be what you do for the rest of your life. Also I am a procrastinator, which may be a potential obstacle as well. To overcome math I will utilize the tutoring center when I need assistance. As for my procrastination I will start completing my assignments way before they are due.
Action Plan
For my action plan I will start taking pre business courses next semester as well as sophomore year. So I will be taking business classes, which will help make me more informed about the subject. I will also join the international business club to gain more information about the subject to make sure I am making the right decision. Since both my mom, and dad work in business fields I also have the opportunity to ask them questions and even shadow them to see what its like to work in a business field. These are some actions that I am going to take to make sure that I am confident in my career decision.
Overall Career Exploration has helped me a lot in making a decision. I would not have done the amount of research that I did on majors if it weren’t for this class. I can finally say that I have a strong idea of what I want to do, and I feel confident going into a business major. Not only have I made a smart goal but I also have an action plan that I am already starting. I feel very good about my decision thanks to this
