Reflection On Lemonade Day

The MGMT 1000 “Lemonade Day” that took place on Monday October 19th in the University Centre at the University of Guelph was a very interesting learning experience for students in the “Introduction to Business” course. It was an educational experience in many ways such as learning to work as a team, working with the public, learning personal responsibility and understanding how a business works. In that sense, the day was a success because it showed how much work and coordination goes into making a business prosper and showed the participants what qualities they need to develop to succeed in the business world. Preparation for the big day started two weeks earlier in the seminars, however, because of thanksgiving, one of the seminars was cancelled which proved to be an obstacle. Because there was not a specific date for everyone to meet, it was very difficult to coordinate all the different teams and work together. For example, the operations …show more content…
All the different teams need to coordinate, compliment, and support each other. A business is made of many fractions working separately to achieve a common goal. This means communicating clearly and effectively. There needs to be coordination so that all the jobs get done efficiently and on time. Too many people working on one job means that not enough people are in another area. There needs to be a balance so everything works together. Respect is also vital in a business. People need to be comfortable sharing opinions and ideas to improve the company and this will not happen unless there is a feeling of mutual respect and trust. Therefore, everyone’s ideas need respectful consideration. Lastly, admitting mistakes and trying to make up for them is important to keep a business running smoothly. If someone makes an error, a polite apology is the respectful course of action. Admit the fault and try to atone for it to show that it will not happen
