Overview Immigration is an issue that the United States has been dealing with for years. Throughout history there have been serval attempts to fix immigration by passing different laws. Also, by revising and creating different bills that are already put in place. According to, The Department of Homeland Security it estimates that there are 11.4 million illegal immigrants living in the United States, which is down from 11.5 million in 2011 (Batalova2016). Illegal Mexican immigrants are becoming one of the most victimized populations in the United States (Sabina2015). They are more prone to gang violence and drug trafficking. One of the Main reasons why is because they are illegal. Illegal immigrants have known from of social security; therefore, they have no form of identification. When an illegal immigrant is victimized it makes it hard for them to seek justice due to the fact they could risk being deported back to Mexico. That is why a lot of these crimes against illegal immigrants are common. Because illegal Mexican immigrants are the most victimized they tend to not go places alone. Also, Illegal immigrants are known to steal people’s identity because they are illegal. However, the US Supreme Court has ruled that illegal immigrants cannot be prosecuted for identity theft if they use social security numbers of other people, if they do not know belong to someone else; to be guilty of identity theft about social security numbers, they must know that the social security numbers that they use belong to others (Cohn 2014). Through research and understanding of illegal Mexicans immigrants, social workers can better help the problem with illegal immigrant being victimized. Also, by illegal Mexican immigrants victimizing us Americans by stealing our identities. We can also help improve policies when dealing with illegal immigrants. We can help get policies passed by advocating for illegal immigrants. Dealing with illegal immigrants it effects America’s policies, economic status and the people of America. I think that immigration is needed for the U.S. I think we need more diversity in the United States. The immigration system has been broken for a long time. Obama plan for immigration was to focus on illegal immigrants who had felonies, criminal records or threaten security of the country. He did not want to break up families that had established a life her in the United States. I think that a sensible plan should be put in place. I favor Obama’s plan about illegal immigrants more than I favor Donald Trump’s plan about building a wall. I think immigration is going to be a process that American is going to have to continue to work on. I think that Americans should keep in mind that diversity is what makes us
