The proposed program will address the health problem of Malaria in children 0-5 years old in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi. (I haven’t find a specific site yet but I know that I want my intervention to take place in the city)
Geographic placement
Kenya is located on the eastern coast of Africa surrounded by Ethiopia on the North, Somalia on the northeast, South Sudan in the Northwest, Uganda on the West, Tanzania on the South and the Indian ocean on the east (Kenya Malaria Indicator Survey 2015). Kenya supreme court has five judges with a chief and deputy chief justices. The chief and deputy chief justices are appointed by the president only with approval from the National Assembly, which has 349 members elected by popular vote. The five judges are appointed by the president without the National Assembly approval. Patients in sub-district hospitals do not always get the care they need because these hospitals only focus on diagnosis, counseling, and testing. Patients are sent to Provincial hospital or National, Referral, and Teaching Hospitals for major surgical procedures (Turin 2010).
The last level of healthcare facilities is community health organizations. Community health organizations like (NGOs) non-governmental organizations and (FBOs) faith-based organization have a strong impact on the Kenyan health system. NGOs/FBOs operated 15% of Kenya health facilities in 2008. NGOs/FBOs health facilities are great for the community because it provides high quality of care at lower cost. The only problem with these facilities is that they depend on donor funding so, it donor funding is lacking, these facilities will not be able to service more people (Turin 2010).
Kenya plan to unite all the public, private not-for-profit (NGO/FBO), and private for-profit health facilities together so that they can break down these health disparities and work towards the same goal which is “health for all” (Turin
