.1 Introduction
This is our first assignment of leadership and change management.In this group work, our team members are Aashish Gurung, Bibek Thapa, Roman Chitrakar and Sharmila KC. Aashish Gurung is our group leader for this semester. In this report, we are going to talk about leadership and change management. Leadership is a way of influencing people to achieve organizational objective through change. Leadership style varies according to leader. Some may be autocratic and some may be democratic which we will discuss later. Good leadship is an essential key to get company’s success. They have ability to change internal culture. They can single handedly turn failing companies into fortune organization. They are able to tackle with challenges and difficulties that may hamper organization’s success. Self-awareness, self-direction, vision, ability to motivate, social awareness are some of the quality of a good leader. Changes can be seen in the organisation because of leaders. There are different leadership styles like autocratic and democratic. In autocratic leadership, leader supervises follower closely whereas in democratic leadership, there is active participation of followers in decision making process. In this subject, we have chosen Mr. Shesh Ghale as our leader who is actively involved in Melbourne Institute of Technology(MIT) contributing in Australia’s higher education. Leadership and change management is the leaders opinion and vision that must be allocated by the followers and the followers must direct themselves to work accordingly to achieve the leaders directions as well as effectively handling with the changes in the organization and through this accomplish the organization goals smoothly and efficiently. (Baum & Locke, 2004; Bolin, 1997; Northhouse, 2007).
A leader must also have certain qualities in order to lead a mass of people. The qualities include intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity and sociability. If a leader has these above qualities then he/she can successfully lead his/her followers to a right and decisive path so that there occurs on future disputes and has to deal with the change in the working environment so he/she has to utilize the change management theories in his/her
