In a special experiment, eight individuals who were considered to be happy were chosen. They were interviewed to explore the psychological and environmental meaning behind their work satisfaction. The research indicated that all individuals showed a commonality between them that the researchers saw. Due to this commonalty, it showed that those who had this similarity were the happiest individuals in the group (Henderson, 2000). After the research that was done, it was found that in the individuals that were interviewed, the best way to be comfortable in a job is to find a part that they actually like about the job and focus on that instead. Generally, the idea that Henderson was basing her research around is a phrase by Joseph Campbell which is to “follow your bliss.” This concept, created in 1988, was the philosophical idea that any individual should not indulge themselves in simple pleasures, but instead search for what makes their soul happy. Each of us have our own journey and if we follow it then doors of fulfillment and bliss will open for us. Instead, you will have an occupation that you truly enjoy, even though you had to struggle to get that job, because your happiness in the long-run will be rewarding (Henderson, 2000). Her research also found that the characteristics self-determination, energy, and strength of character are great traits that were practiced improved
