The church in the New Testament was learning first hand on the role of living a Christian life. Paul explains to the new believer, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” To surrender yourself to Christ is to set your faith on Him because it is for the ultimate good that one could achieve. Paul is telling the Roman believers to repudiate their sinful destructive desirers, for nothing good comes from evil. “… the good for man is an activity of the soul in accordance with virtue, or if there are more kinds of virtue than one, in accordance with the best and most perfect kind.” Aristotle supports Paul by explaining how finding a porpoise or a good in your heart because this is what makes a person happy. The problem is when we apply virtues in our lives, but do not truly understand what it means; we tend to push back at those who do not understand the position of the Christian. “…virtue is not merely a state in conformity with the right principle, but one that implies the right principle; and the right principle in moral conduct is prudence..” To use practical wisdom in our daily lives is to live a virtuous life. The virtue of making doing what is right for the community and not just for our own benefit is prudence. We need this type of thinking in our daily lives, in our communities, and in the world.
