I did my job shadow on October 7th, 2017. I did my Job shadow with Adam Ahearn, the associate director of marketing and promotions for intercollegiate athletics at the University of Wisconsin Madison. I jobbed shadow an event, the October 7th men’s hockey game between the Wisconsin Badgers and Ohio State Buckeyes at the Kohl Center. I got the insight on many things from touring the kohl center, to listening in on the meetings. Being able to shadow the hockey game, I observed many things, learned valuable lessons, and got an outlook on a possible career. Job Shadowing Adam was such an eye-opening experience. Right away when I walked to the kohl center I was let in by Adam and he gave me this pass to put on my belt. The pass pretty much gave …show more content…
I asked the 12 questions that were required and I got really good answers for each question from Adam. A big reason Adam chose his career in the sports business is you get to work on cool teams and is able to share their success with them if they are successful. He really likes the excitement of game day, the challenge of coming up with new things, the environment is exciting to work in, its entertainment, so it’s supposed to be fun, and technology kind of changes a lot of things. A typical day for Adam is there is no typical day. His main responsibilities are ticket sales, game production, and sponsorship activation. In ticket sales he does student tickets, general public tickets, and single game season ticket. He does a little bit of everything with tickets. With the game production side of things, Adam does anything that is entertaining that is not the game itself. The game production includes videoboards, timeouts, music, and giveaways. The next thing Adam is in charge of sponsorship activation. A sponsor, signs on, he’s not responsible for selling the individual deal, but responsible on the back end many times to activate that and fulfill whatever elements of the contract that are with his …show more content…
Adam said it’s really rewarding to see fans have a great time and get excited about the event. For Adam, he didn’t view least rewarding as a thing, He viewed them more as challenges. Some challenging things are long seasons, long hours, and you have to be new and innovated. There can be pressure to make sure the events come off in a coordinated fashion and people have a good time. The most important skills for a job like Adams is being energized because of long hours, hardworking, creative, and an emphasis on relationships. Adam mentioned you have to be build relationships with people to achieve your goals and it’s important to have good interpersonal skills to help you develop those relationships. You want to be able to work with someone knowing you can joke off together to the side, but knowing together you are going to achieve your goals. One thing Adam wish he knew, but didn’t when he first started his career was the importance of creative writing and telling a story. There is a story behind everything and you have to try and be creative in telling that. Another thing he wishes he knew was understanding the importance of communication with people. More importantly understanding how information’s flows and being able to communicate effectively to reach that goal. The best opportunities for someone entering into a career field like Adam is

For the summer of 2016 I decided it would be a great idea to do work study for Trio Upward Bound at Delaware Technical & Community College. While there I did any errands that had to be done, record attendance, or file papers. This experience met my expectations as I had expected to help my supervisor in any way possible and do any office work that needed to be done. By only having done this, I knew I had contributed to the program because even the littlest help can save others time and work. Having done this work study was not a difficult task for me as I possess few skills and knowledge that helped me through it.…

It is with great pleasure that I submit an application for the Marketing Growth Analyst position offered by Ampush. I learned about Ampush from personal research and became interested in your company’s unique approach to marketing strategy and campaigns. When I first learned of Ampush, I was immediately taken by your mission to cater an individual advertising experience for each one of your company partners rather than trying to find a one-size-fits-all strategy for every single project. Ampush’s focus on instead developing strategies that target the individual needs of each project resonates strongly with my experiences in the arts at Williams. With each theatrical production I worked on, I was encouraged to analyze and understand the show…

In the d-block production, ‘Inherit the Wind’ I served the role of publicist, along with this role I had the job of preparing flyers, making signs, and creating a playbill. I selected this role because I am very familiar with the use of all of the google apps and I thought it would be an exciting and challenging role. I envisioned the role to be lots of computer work, which it was and I also thought it would have to require lots of detail and attention to make sure I got everything right, as it was. I thought our blocks production was well performed as well as organised and put together.…

Choosing the person to interview for this assignment was difficult at first, trying to determine which sport and how to contact that person. I first started with the Toledo Mud Hens, but didn’t receive any call backs. I also contacted the Lansing Lugnuts and the West Michigan White Caps and again no call backs. So I looked up minor league baseball teams and the name El Paso Chihuahuas caught my attention. Looking up their front office staff on their website I seen that Angela Olivas is the Director, Marketing and Communications for the team.…

My previous work experience has exposed me to a variety of team dynamics and I would describe my exposure as very positive. My love for connecting with people has been a major factor in my overall employment success, such as, two management roles before reaching my twenty’s and also a fulfilling career in the financial industry for nine years. Working in a customer service role for the last 14 years I have faced struggles with communication, as well as developed positive skills to work effectively with others. One of the most essential elements I have learned from working as a Financial Advisor is how to build trust with people. I firmly believe this is key to any successful relationship, rather an employment relationship or otherwise.…

At Saint Joseph’s University, Savino was an accounting and finance double major with a passion for soccer. Him and a friend even started the Men’s Club Soccer team. Late into his senior year, Savino and a friend started a website, Business of Soccer, with the intent to blog about soccer; however, they soon realized it had transformed into a resource for the sport’s industry and less so a blog.
