Marilyn Monroe once sang, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” This lyric about girls and their diamonds makes sense for obvious reasons. Diamonds are shiny, make women feel like princesses, and are a symbol of “love”. However, diamonds have an intimidating competitor, chocolate. No matter how big the “rock” is, some women would prefer delicious, melt in your mouth, chocolate. Their wise decision could potentially have some great upsides to it. For instance, dark chocolate has numerous health benefits and can turn a girl’s frowns upside down. Chocolate is also a more suitable best friend, because it can double as a weight loss trainer. For one thing, dark chocolate consists of different components that can have effect on a person’s metabolism. To illustrate, a researcher in the natural medicine field, Rowena Portch reported, “Dark chocolate has an impressive impact on how the body synthesizes fatty acids, thus reducing the digestion and absorption of fats and carbohydrates.” Rowen also addressed a study done in the Netherlands on dark chocolate having the ability to control appetites. The group of women given dark chocolate showed a decreased and satisfied appetite. In another article written by, Aleisha Fetters quoted Sue Decotiis, M.D.,”… dark chocolate also contains healthy fats, which slow the absorption of sugar into the blood stream.” In fact, a neuroscientist named, Will Clower even wrote a book titled, “Eat Chocolate, Lose Weight”. Will advised people to consume dark chocolate 20 minutes before eating and a couple minutes after a meal to help ones appetite. In short, chocolate is a good best friend, because it helps girls reach their weight loss goals.
In conclusion, Marilyn’s claim about what a girl’s best is, has been overturned by chocolate. Diamonds have a fair argument, but chocolate has logical reasoning behind it. As stated previously, dark chocolate is a ninja that helps girl’s fight various diseases. Furthermore, the magnesium, endorphins, and serotonin found within the chocolate is the perfect combination to turn a stressful day into a ray a sunshine. Finally, dark chocolate makes the weight loss journey less of a burden for the women. Take the advice from the trained professionals and meet the true

As I read the body rituals that Miner describes such as “inserting a small bundle of hog hairs into the mouth and moving that bundle around in the mouth, also visiting a holy-mouth man once or twice a year who uses a variety of tools to locate any tooth decay, references men scraping and lacerating the surface of the face with a sharp instrument” it was easy to identify these to our routines of brushing our teeth, going to the dentist and a man shaving his face.
