This form of trafficking is also seen as a rapidly growing black market. In India around 200,000 people are in need of a kidney each year however, only around 3% of the people receive a new kidney annually. Recently, a ring was operating on trafficked organs out of a prestigious hospital in New Delhi. They were arrested on 7/14/16. The organ trafficking business is a dangerous, yet thriving one. This gang was operating for almost two years in Delhi. (McKirdy 2016) Surgeons have also been known to be in deal with these illegal organ trafficking rings. People are either stolen or lured into giving one of their kidneys in exchange for a small amount of money. The traffickers then sell those kidneys in the black market at insanely high price. Keeping in mind that kidneys are in fact in high demand. For the own protection of the hospital they have denied any involvement with the operations that were going through at this time. Although this may be true, there is still the possibility that the hospital was well aware of the events that were going on and they were in need of money in order to keep up with their “prestigious”
