Second is evacuation sites were prepared with relief goods in them for the residents. Third is the evacuation of the residents where the typhoon Haiyan will make a landfall. And lastly, classes got cancelled so that children could evacuate with their families. But as the typhoon approached the area, the residents did not believe how deadly and strong it was because it was very sunny during the day and they could even see the stars during the night, some of them were even laughing. The news also gave warnings about a 22 ft storm surge which the residents did not understand and did not mind. So despite all the preparations of the government and residents, it still did not equal to the strength of the typhoon.
During the typhoon, the wind was so strong and powerful. But what made everything worse was the storm surge that was like a tsunami, it was 16 ft high of ocean water where in just 5 minutes children were washed out from their parents, buildings were destroyed, trees got broken, and cars were piled up.
