Why Do Guns Don T Kill People, People Kill People?

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. It is true that 30,000 people are killed using guns every year, but out of that 30,000, 61% are suicides. That’s 18,300 people using their own gun to kill themselves, not being killed by someone else pulling the trigger. Less than 13,000 people are killed in other ways by guns. (gunfacts.info) People have begun to fight for gun control due to the numbers of mass shootings in the United States over the past couple years. Out of the eighty million gun owners in America, only fifteen hundred accidental deaths will be caused by those same people. Out of those eighty million gun owners, one thousand and twelve of them were questioned in a 2005 poll why they own their guns, and fifty eight percent of those people said they own their guns for hunting. …show more content…
When actually, they are either doing it for food to feed their families or hunting to help with animal population control. Those eighty million gun owners could be your neighbors, friends, or complete strangers, but that does not mean that they are going to come into your house and murder you and your family. Those people will go on living their lives, without the thought of gun violence in their heads.Also, Richard Henry Lee wrote, "It is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them..." in the Declaration of Independence. Guns are written in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, guns are apart of the foundation of the United States. The United States are the 1st in the world for gun ownership, yet we are only 28th in the world for murders per one hundred thousand people.
