God’s word is documented in the bible which exemplifies how believers are to understand and see what the Lord expects from his children; his law, The Ten Commandments, state the moral expectations and allows believers to fully experience a life filled with God’s goodness. “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (New Living Translation, Rom. 12:2). In the book of Romans, God uses the word “perfect” as a synonym to good. This instance shows his followers that the word “good” should equal the word “perfection” which is not normally how it is interpreted in current times. Perfect is viewed as an unattainable standard that cannot be reached or achieved, and good is good enough in comparison to perfect from a worldly perspective; although, in the Lord’s eye, the two should have the same meaning. Though people view the word good as something that is of lesser value but still of some worth, it should be viewed as a synonym to perfection just as it is used in The Bible. Good should not be an adjective that is overused as it is today. It is hard to truly think of something as perfect, so the value of the word and what it is describing is thought of as better than something that is considered good. If we are to truly be good in God’s eyes, then his definition of good should equal ours. Our worldly perspective should not change God’s original intentions, and our ways should not conflict with that of the Lord’s.
