It was early Thursday morning and it was the day everyone in the 7th grade gifted classes were waiting for. It was our trip downtown to the Flint River Aquarium and the Thornateeska Science Museum. I got …show more content…
We found our seats and sat down and waited for the movie to begin, which was called Oasis in Space. The movie begins, and the entire planetarium grew dark. We looked up at the dome shaped ceiling, where the movie was begin projected, and watched as the movie begin to play. The movie kind of made me think in a different way. It talked about how earth is the only planet in our solar system able to have life. The movie also was stating that somewhere far out in the universe there could be more life. The credits begin to play, and the movie was over. The planetarium was lit again, and it was time to go on our next station. We got up out of our seats and head back to the front of the museum where we begin the scavenger hunt. We were give a paper that had clouds labeled*********************************. We had to go around the entire museum and find the answers to each question. We went to the section labeled Air and Space first. Here I found out some cool information. I learned that butterflies can emerge from their cocoons in space and in zero gravity. The next station was Meteorology. Meteorology was one of the best stations. It consisted of a camera and weather station. If you were to stand in front of the camera you would appear on the television screen like a meteorologist. Next, we went to natural science, which was the most challenging stations. My group was stuck of the question that stated, “What part of the eye changes in size because of light?’ There were two possible answers, but we just went with our gut and chose iris as the answer. The following station was paleontology which was interesting because it taught me something that I didn’t know. I was informed that the Indigenous Forest formed 10,000 years ago. The next station was hydrology which was extremely informational. The informed me that the Upper Floridan Aquifer is of the very important sources of water in South Georgia. I also learned that
