When I joined the FFA I was a shy kid who hated getting in front of people to talk about anything. My advisor knew I was shy, so she talked me into doing a bunch of public speeches, which helped me to get in front of people and speak. I used to be really unorganized with paper work and at home with my records of livestock medicine. When you show through FFA you have to be very organized with medicine books and paper work, so that you didn’t get in trouble with the law. It shaped me to be a very organized person and always write things down and to keep a planner. The biggest thing it taught me is how to be patient with certain situations. When you grow up on a farm you run into a lot of situations like having cattle break out of a fence. The farm machinery could break down and have to be able to fix it. The FFA taught me how to just take a deep breath and roll with what was given. My time in the FFA has had a lot of situations where I wouldn’t have been able to deal with without the practice I had in the chapter. The biggest thing I think shaped me was never giving up on anything you try. When you’re working cattle you have a 900 lb animal that you have to break the animal to walk. It takes a lot of effort to do that most kids just quit at it. It taught me no matter how hard life gets don’t quit just keep going at it until you get the job
