Advertising Marketing is key in creating a financially successful business. Without visibility, customers are not aware the store exists, what it offers, or whether or not they would be interested in shopping there. As a localized retail store, targeting customers within your region is ideal as well as potentially low cost undertaking. First, the signage of the store should reflect the brand and make the store visible from the street. Second, the use of digital media to secure Google Maps listings will help customers looking for types of products in the location will find your store. Creating a website that contains captivating content and imagery that reflect the brand is essential in today’s market. The journey consumers follow in becoming customers involves many more channels and steps than in the past. A website that highlights the stores products, hours, and means of contact are general best practices. Digital marketing is also essential in assisting customer retention through retargeting, content strategy, and special offers. Many of these items will be handled via customer relationship management. Budgets will be allocated monthly for print and digital media; an initial marketing budget will be more significant and include banners to promote the grand opening, newspaper ads, website build, and direct mailers. After initial launch of website and awareness campaigns, the marketing budgets for each channel will become more fixed with money spent in paid search, print advertising, and additional awareness campaigns like bus stop advertising, local publications, and more.

The research that goes into the product selection and appointing department heads responsible for gauging the performance of their decisions and adapting will help the store thrive. Product that is not sold in stores or online will be on clearance in the online store with prices set closer to the break-even point. The multi-channel marketing campaign should stir up enough interest to create initial customers. In addition, rewards programs and analysis should help us gauge the effectiveness of our marketing campaign as our customer base
