Encoding is the first step and the most important. Encoding is the process of getting your information. We have to make sure that the information we use is in the easiest format for our memories to file away.A part of this is how important the role of attention is. Before we can start encoding things we have to attend to the proper information needed to do the task or action. As interesting enough our brains contain every single event that has ever happened …show more content…
This step is crucial to our thought and memory filing. This process is the refers to keeping information in our memory. Our memory can be stored in many different ways including emotions, interpretations and even expectations on different topics or events. The value of schemas are very important to this process. Schema is and organized knowledge structure or mental model that we’ve stored in our memory. this process is basically all on how we interpret our given information. The last moving piece to the process of storage would be Schemas and memory mistakes. This is basically we took something that we thought we valued a lot but it didn’t work out as easier as what we expected. Or what we call oversimplify some actions or thoughts which can cause some good things but can cause some memory errors if it was important to the person or what the brain perceived to be important. But as human beings we do tend to overgeneralize a lot and paint most groups of people with one paint brush instead of painting them as …show more content…
We have a way of measuring our memory and its three mini steps. One being recall and recognition. Recall is reflecting on previous knowledge. And recognition is selecting a select group of information regarding a topic or action and displayed in an array of options. This is the area where crunching information and simplify happens. Since our brains like simple things, it makes it easier find the information. Recalling is the hardest thing compared to recognition because it’s thought in two steps one generating an answer and then making sure it’s the correct one, whereas recognition is a list of options and our of the list which one seems right.Relearning is the final mini step and it’s exactly like it says. Your taking the information and going over it again multiple times so your brain is put into practise. Psychologists call this the method of
