This paper will focus on important aspects of doing business in Brazil. Some of the subjects that will be included are: general information about the country, the culture of the country, and the appropriate business etiquette to use while conducting business in Brazil. All of this information will make it easier to familiarize doing business in Brazil.
General Information
Brazil is located in eastern South America and it borders the Atlantic Ocean. It is the largest country in South America and it shares common boundaries with every South American country aside from Ecuador and Chile. The capital of Brazil is Brasilia, which is located somewhat close to the middle of the country. The climate in Brazil is mostly tropical but, moderate in …show more content…
Popular foods depend on what region of Brazil you are in. In the northern part, vatapá, maniçoba, caruru, tacacá, and pato no tucup are all popular. In the southern part, barreado and arroz carreteiro are very popular. Some universal popular foods eaten throughout the region are: hog plum, yams, tapioca, cassava, chourico, pine nuts, acai, peanuts, and okra ("Brazil", n.d.).
Music plays an important role in the life of the Brazilian people. Some popular music genres in Brazil are: samba, bossa nova, lundu, choro, baiao, forro, and MPB (Musica Popular Brasilera – Brazilian pop music from after the 1960’s). The Portuguese brought over African slaves in the 1500’s and this led to Brazilian’s music being an Afro-European fusion (Ilich, n.d.).
Brazilians enjoy a variety of sports due to their moderate weather. The most popular sport would be football or what we Americans refer to as soccer. In 2014, Brazil hosted the FIFA World Cup. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Capoeira are two forms of popular martial arts that Brazilians enjoy. Footvolley, which is a combination of both football and volleyball is also a popular sport in Brazil.
