9/11 Attack Conspiracy Essay

The conspiracy theories surrounding the tragedy of the 9/11 attacks are varied and have been present for many years, edging into mainstream society in certain circumstances. Many of the theorist’s contest that the attack constituted a ‘false flag’ attack to rationalise increased limitations on civil liberties and foreign invasion with an ulterior agenda, both of which the attack incited. Evidence put forth by both individuals and groups to justify conspiracy theories is varied and involve highlighting the many inconsistencies within the subsequent 9/11 commission report, aspects involving the prevention of the attacks and theories relating to the physical damage received by the victimised structures. The travesty allowed the United States a chance to implement policies that would not have been remotely acceptable prior including the increased infringement on civil liberties in the form of increased surveillance and the action of intervening militarily within the …show more content…
The 9/11 Truth Movement believes that NORAD (North American Aerospace Defence Command) had the ability to track, find and intercept the planes used to propagate 9/11 and thus the failure to do so reveals a government conspiracy to allow the attacks to occur. The merit to this argument includes the fact that 67 intercepts had occurred before 9/11. However, drawbacks are extensive as only one airline had been intercepted in the decade prior to 9/11 and that this interception took over an hour whereas with the longest hijack identification time was eight minutes . This shows the improbable nature NORAD could have intercepted or enacted any meaningful action to prevent the aircrafts due to the extreme time
