There are thousands of conspiracy theories for everything happening around the world. One conspiracy in particular stands out, this theory has many different facts and strong supporting videos to go along with it. Many people believe the government had a strong impact on the outcome of 9/11. This day to most Americans is a tragedy, but in the secrets of the white house it might have been a success. There are many reasons to believe the government had an idea that 9/11 was gonna be a tragic day. Inside traders knew about the attacks before they occurred. Air defense was told to “stand down”. Huge surges in put options of stocks of the two airlines used in the attack, United Airlines and American airlines. This is gambling that the stock of these two airlines will fall and that did happen directly after the crash. Surges in purchases of put options on stocks of reinsurance companies expected to pay out billions to cover losses of the attack on 9/11. Companies that were hurt by the put options increase were financial service companies such as Morgan Stanley, Bank Of America, and Merrill lynch Company. The Thursday and Friday before the Attack, Bank Of America had almost 25 times the amount of trades as usual. 5,900 contracts were traded and when trading resumed the stock fell 11.5%. A huge surge in stock shares were bought from a weapon manufacturer that gained a lot from the attack. 5-year treasury notes also surged before the attacks. The Wall Street Journal reported that the treasury notes are in the best interest in buyers if a world crisis were to happen. The values of these notes, pointed out by the journal, has increased greatly after September 11. These reasons are why it is believed inside traders knew about 9/11 and the pentagon was alerted before the attack (NewsOne Staff). 9/11 was not the first terrorist attack on the world trade center. On February of 1993 a bombing killed six people. The towers steel beams did not melt due to the jet fuel. They started melting and lost enough strength to bend and the building collapsed. Nineteen attackers were Islamic terrorists from Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations. Osama bin laden was responsible for the planning of these attacks. This was supposedly a retaliation for America backing Israel in the involvement in the Persian Gulf war. The terrorists used box cutters to take over the planes and then took control of the four planes and turned them into guided missiles (History.com Staff).
