Comparing Godfather Death Poem And A & P By John Updike

Did you know, that most of stories will have a protagonist and an antagonist. Their purpose is to express the goals of the main characters in a particular story. Based on, in “Godfather Death” by Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm, and “A & P” by John Updike, both stories have protagonists and antagonists. In the case of Godfather Death, there were two main characters, the Doctor, and the Death both played big roles in the story as protagonists. The Doctor had to follow Death’s conditions. By the same case, the Death wanted to use the Doctor for his convenience. In the other story Sammy’s played the roles as the main character. But this story had more than one antagonist taking place. Between there were three objectives that identify the Death as protagonist; power, respect, and gratitude. However, the Death thought that the doctor learned from his lesson, and this would be the last time he did it. Therefore, the Death was very upset because the Doctor cheap on him one more time. In terms of gratitude the Doctor was ungrateful with the Death. Knowing the all the things that the death gave to this man. Also, the Death chanced the Doctor from poor to became a rich and famous. In “Godfather Death” showed us how both protagonists had conflicts with each other. In the case of the Doctor, he was ungrateful with the Death, knowing all the things that the Death did for him. On the another hand, in “A & P” showed us how the protagonist Sammy had conflict in his job. In my opinion, both stories, the Doctor should be more thankful with the Death, and Sammy should think about the consequences, before he lost his job. In the case of Sammy lost his job, and did not have the opportunity to talk with girl. The moral of both stories is that you have to appreciate what you have, before you lose
