These are important as these keep the business moving and these need to be done quickly and efficiently. Because of this, we need these to have a descriptive strategy (Sarfin, 2016). We need these decisions to come from the ground up. They need to be fluid and effective and we can’t wait for these to escalate up to upper leadership.
Decision Making Tools and Process The main part of leading a diverse and expansive team, such as this IT team, is ensuring we have proper decision making tools and processes. Above, we discussed long-term and short-term decision making in the forms of prescriptive and descriptive strategies. Each of these will utilize different tools and processes. In fact, each of my departments might use different strategies as well, depending on their focus and needs. For that reason, we’re going to break down each pillar into the decision-making tools and processes I’d like each of them to utilize.

What’s important is that we help define how we come to conclusions as well as what happens with our decisions. They need to understand how each option can lead to other options. While their focus might be a tad different, they need to understand how their decisions flow through the enterprise. For that reason, it’s important that they use a mind map. In this case, I’d like them to use a cognitive map. Smithin (1980) believes that “a cognitive map brings concepts together and shows how they are believed to be related.” This is important to these organizations as architecture is responsible for all of the enterprise and this cognitive map gives them a physical representation of what their decisions can lead to. As for security, they fall under the same realm, but more with systems. What systems changes and audits impact our environment. At what point will we have to make decisions about security and what influence will that have on the
