Reflective Review
This semester in the Communications course, I have learnt a lot of techniques to improve my own communication skills. I have gotten the chance to work in a group and gain group skills, construct a business report to prepare me for the business organisation. This semester the course has been very helpful and I just cannot explain how much it has improved my talents in communications. I have also learnt many other skills and understandings that I explain below.
Inter-cultural Understanding
Some Inter-cultural understandings that I’ve improved on are things like valuing my own culture, language and beliefs, and also those of others. I now understand that all cultures are different in some way but also share a lot of similarities. …show more content…
Some of these strengths include; Listening – taking in and showing interest to what people say, responding to negative feedback, appreciating other people’s feelings, seeking clarification, asking open-ended questions, summarising what people have said, expressing support, concluding conversations in many ways, the ability to solve win/win conflicts, and many more. With these abilities and strengths I will be able to show my highest standards in a business. These will also improve my communication with fellow colleagues. By being open minded, I am able to perceive what people say with a broader sense and not be naive. I also learnt to that culture plays a big part in today’s world in communication. Nowadays there are so many different languages and cultures. I have learnt that not only our culture is right, nor is out culture the only way to communicate. I also learnt that to be an effective communicator I need to understand myself on an intrapersonal level. All of these things have taught me to communicate effectively and on a smart
