1a.) The bacteria levels in the Boston Harbor were higher 25 years ago. "Historically, poorly treated wastewater and discharge of sewage solids, or sludge, were significant sources of bacteria to the harbor, documented as far back as the 1930s." (The State of Boston Harbor: Mapping the Harbor's Recovery, 8) Now, the water quality is being measured by the MWRA to meet the health standards of making the water

1b.)With the respect of my parameter, bacteria pollution, I could attend the Boston Harbor
Cleanup events to further increase the quality of water. Another thing that could help increase the quality of water is to have regulations at the Boston Harbor for not only the river but for people that own boats and go boating at the Boston Harbor.

2c) Protecting the Quabbin Watershed ensures good drinking water quality because the watershed is filled naturally with rain and snow. Eventually, the water turns into streams that run into reservoirs. Through the process of the water from the watershed turning into streams and reservoirs, it encounters rocks, plants, and soil that clean the water. Without purifying the water, the water could contain contamination, pesticides, diseases etc.

4c.) Kelp grows in cool water conditions. If the sun continues to heat the water, the water will become warm and kelp will not be able to grow. Unfortunately, it will take longer for the sun to reach the bottom of the ocean.

5a.) Over time, carbon dioxide increased at a steady rate. The increase shows the air mixed with carbon dioxide that was created by fossil fuels.

5b.) The excess atmospheric carbon dioxide goes into plants, soil, and warms the temperature. The temperature of the atmosphere depends on which pole the location of the site is. Because Mauna Loa observatory is a hot island, the higher carbon dioxide increases. When carbon dioxide reaches the plants and soil, photosynthesis occurs to intake carbon dioxide from the plants and releases oxygen into the air.
