Holes is a book about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. His great- great- great- great-grandfather stole and he was cursed and his descendants. So Stanley and his family were cursed. Now Stanley is a normal boy that goes to school, but when Clyde Livingston’s shoes fall from overhead. Stanley picks them up and takes them home so his dad could see if he could recycle them. It’s something his dad has been working to earn money, and get a better house. Later that day police have arrested him, and the judge let Stanley pick to go to jail or to Camp Green Lake. He chose to go to Camp Green Lake on a long bus ride to the middle of nowhere. When he arrived the counselors got him ready for camp. They told him he would be digging holes every day until he …show more content…
They were digging for something valuable. He also made some friends at Camp Green Lake. One day Zero one of his friends ran away from the camp into nowhere. Days later Stanley was thinking about running away too. So when the water truck came Stanley tried to hijack it and escape Camp Green Lake with water and fast. He could help Zero and himself to the big thumb, but as Stanley drove he drove into a hole. Stanley woke up still in the hole, and tried to wiggle his way out to the surface. After he got out of the hole he ran until he couldn’t see Camp Green Lake, but in his water jug there was no water. As Stanley kept walking in the direction of big thumb on the right was a little boat that said Mary Lou. Stanley stood outside of the boat until someone’s arm grabs his leg with an orange jumpsuit. Stanley went underneath the boat, and met Zero. Later, they both walked towards big thumb with three jars. When they got to the top Stanley dug a water hole so they could drink. When they dug they found lots of onions underneath the dirt. When they left big thumb they filled the jars with water, and took some onions. After a long period of walking they hear the sound of Camp Green Lake. So they stayed in a hole until Camp Green Lake was asleep. They came out of their hole and got in the hole where Stanley found the Kate Barlow tube, and started digging. They took turns digging and tried to keep quite. When they got the suitcase out of the hole the Warden was waiting above them. Then yellow spotted lizards appeared all over Zero and Stanley. They sat there waiting for the lizards to go away, but they stayed until dawn. Finally, the lizards left, and Stanley’s lawyer came to take Stanley home. Stanley wouldn’t move until his lawyer took Zero. She gave in and they got in the car, and left Camp Green Lake forever. When they got home Stanley was on the coach
