Two-Sample T Procedure Essay

The two-sample t procedure is appropriate to use in this experiment in order to see if there is a difference in the two

population means of stride length in the two different species, N. rattus and N. squamipes. This is because the boxplots

appear to be roughly symmetrical, as well as, both normal quantile-quantile plots look roughly linear. Considering

two-sample t-procedures are quite robust to violations of the normality assumption, the t-procedure will likely

perform well in this scenario. It is important to note that the second assumption of an independent simple random

sample may not be reasonable as each species of rat came from a single municipality. This may not be representative

of the entire population of the species. In spite of this, using a

The point estimate of the true mean

difference between the lowest detectable amplitudes (post space flight sensitivity –

pre-space flight sensitivity) is 33.866 micrometers. This provides evidence that

astronauts’ foot sole skin becomes hyposensitive following space shuttle missions.

We can be 95% confident that the true mean difference in the lowest detectable

amplitude of a 25 Hz frequency on the big toe of an astronaut before and after a

space shuttle mission (after-before), under the conditions of this study, lies between

5.094012 and 62.637988 micrometers. On average, the sensitivity of astronauts’

foot sole skin post space flight is less than before the space flight. It is important to

note that since this entire interval is to the left of 0, we can reject the null

Problem 1.17 In problem 1.17, the average age of pinon trees in the coast ranges of California was investigated. 500 ten-hectare plots randomly selected using a computer. The age of every pinon tree within each plot was measured and the average age of the plot was used as the unit measurement (Whitlock and Schluter, 2015, pg 20).…

A chi squared value of .022, less than the benchmark of .05 means the data from the lab was significant and statistically rejects the null hypothesis that there was no correlation between residency and aggression between male crickets. The null hypothesis suggested the wins should have been equal at 239 wins for the intruder and 239 wins for the resident. If the chi squared test resulted in a p-value above .05 then the null hypothesis would have been accepted and could confirm no relationship between residency and aggression. Discussion…

After thirteen weeks of recording the pink-eyed Sprague Dawley rats walking across an elevated horizontal ladder, a circular ladder and a treadmill, I now spend most days carefully examining the videos to evaluate the quality of their walking ability. The video begins, as it always does, at an angle below the ladder. The rat appears in the frame, roaming around, to acclimatize with the environment and probably search for its missing cage mate. Rats are social animals and enjoy being in groups.…

The first hypothesis stated that if rabbits have brown fur, they will be more likely to survive under food conditions within a cold environment. The data from the experiment disproved the hypothesis. In the controlled version, where the food survival was out of play, there were more white fur rabbits at generations 3 (13 to 5) and 6 (340-150). When the food survival was put into play, there were more white fur rabbits at generations 3 (6-0) and 6 (1-0). While the white fur generation had nearly died out by the sixth generation with only generation, and could have easily died out by the generation after, it still fared better than brown fur bunnies, who died out before the third generation.…

The term data-driven instruction (DDI), also called data supported instruction, is a systematic approach that is used to improve student learning based on available data (Lewis, Madison-Harris, Muoneke, & Times, 2010). It is a cyclic and precise process that continually improves learner’s success. The cycle has three repetitive stages, namely, assessment, analysis, and action. The latter stages provide a school-wide support framework for improving students learning throughout the year by identifying gaps in their learning (Hamilton, Halverson, Jackson, Mandinach, Supovitz, Wayman, & Steele, 2009). Data or evidence is the most crucial component of this instruction approach.…

The definitive diagnosis is through an acid fast stain of the bacteria in a lab, obtained through multiple sputum cultures and a chest x-ray showing abnormalities of the lungs. There is antibiotic treatment for tuberculosis but the bacteria is very drug resistant due to the stiff structure of the cell wall and as a result, the antibiotic course is long and sometimes dangerous due to serious side effects. The most common antibiotics used to treat TB are isoniazid and rifampicin for a minimum of six months. There are drug-resistant strains of TB known as MDR-TB and in these cases, several drugs are used at once to give treatment a better chance at success. Those who have latent TB are treated right away with one antibiotic to prevent the disease from becoming active at some point in time.…
