Writing autobiographies about yourself can be interesting and fun but also sometimes weird and awkward. They are written to basically describe people 's personal lives and also about their own personality, manners of interacting with people in different situations, the main features or “quirks” that make you unique and the ways that others who know you well would describe you. I put a lot of thought into writing this paper. When I went home for Thanksgiving break I focused a lot on how my family interacted with each other and me. The two theories that connect with who I am as a person and based off of my family 's background history are, The Essential-Trait Approach: The Big Five, and Self- Efficacy . These theories are the ones that I strongly …show more content…
The book states this as, “One’s beliefs about the degree to which one will be able to accomplish a goal if one tries”. Self -Efficacy connects with my personality in multiple ways. One way it connects with my personality is that I know what works for me and what I am capable of doing. I figure out what I am capable of doing by taking risks and doing things out of the ordinary for me. A great example was in high school when I tried out for softball my junior year. I wanted to try it because I was like why not. Turns out though I absolutely hated it and wanted to quit right away which I did. I knew that this was not the sport for me but when I tried out I gave myself props for trying something new. I like to think that I can sometimes be a high self efficacy person and at other times a low self efficacy person. I say this cause at times I believe in myself and what I know I can do well but than at other times in life I know when I doubt myself and don’t believe in myself. At times I don’t believe in myself because that is when I need to ask others for reassurance about certain things and I don 't trust myself sometimes with other people. I also don’t also have the best self- esteem when it comes to my body. Throughout my life I have always compared my looks to others and that wasn’t healthy for me to do. I have done weight watchers multiple times and have been on countless diets …show more content…
I am personally glad that I picked these two theories to talk about and connect it with me because when I was taught about them in class I said to myself in my head that that relates to me. I remember even raising my hand when my teacher asked us about both of these theories and gave my personal stories or thoughts when both of these were taught

The construct of Authentic Leadership Theory is relatively new to the research of leadership. It was not until the late 2000s when several contemporary events suchlike the final crisis in 2008 in the United States along with other ethical scandals challenged scholars to research further from the conventional leadership theories that have left unanswered gaps on the study of leadership. Definition of Authentic Leadership Shapira-Lishchinsky & Levy-Gazenfrantz (2015) define Authentic Leadership as the genuine kind of leadership with a visionary and creative response to social circumstances. This genuine approach to leadership is composed by a combination of self-awareness, sympathy for the needs of followers, ingenuity, honesty and transparency…

A case study was done about the effects that self efficacy has on the course of treatment for a person in a drug treatment program. In the study The Role of Self Efficacy in the Treatment of Substance Disorders, Ronald Kadden and Mark Litt found that self efficacy is a strong predictor of outcomes for patients in a drug treatment program. In this study, they found that at the end of a relapse prevention program, self efficacy was high because the focus was put on being able to do or not do what you put your mind too. They made self efficacy the main focus and this resulted in long term effects on the patients. There were lower levels of relapse because patients were given the tools to know that they were capable of whatever they put their mind…

It was hypothesised that those in the coactive conditions would individually generate more words than those in the collective conditions; however those in the conditions which were primed for achievement would generate more words than those in the conditions which were not primed. The manipulation check was successful, as those who were primed for confidence rated themselves as more confident with the task than those who were not primed. Participants in the coactive no-prime condition generated more words overall than those in the primed coactive condition; however, there was no significant difference in words generated between the collective conditions. These findings were not consistent with past literature, as self-efficacy has previously been found to improve the amount of effort put into tasks by individuals (Susman & Sanna, 1992; Stajkovic & Luthans, 1998; Turan et al, 2013). Therefore, if self-efficacy (or in this case, achievement) is primed, social loafing should be buffered or eliminated.…

Seeing people similar to oneself succeed by sustained effort raises observers' beliefs that they too possess the capabilities master comparable activities to succeed. By the same token, observing others' fail despite high effort lowers observers' judgments of their own efficacy and undermines their efforts. The impact of modeling on perceived self-efficacy is strongly influenced by perceived similarity to the models. The greater the assumed similarity the more persuasive are the models' successes and failures. If people see the models as very different from themselves their perceived selfefficacy is not much influenced by the models' behavior and the results its produces.…

The textbook defines self-efficacy as the confidence a person has to perform a task. There are four sources of belief as it relates to self-efficacy. The four beliefs are prior experience, behavior models, persuasion from others, and assessment of physical and emotional state (Kinicki & Kreitner, 2012). A recent article in the Journal of Sports Science & Medicine supports the positive impact of Self-Efficacy. The authors recruited and analyzed 122 adults for a fifty-two- week study.…

Concept Evaluation Antecedents. Walker and Avant (2005) describe antecedents as, “those events or incidents that must occur or be in place prior to the occurrence of the concept” (p.167). In analyzing self confidence, many antecedents quickly become apparent. Prior to the presence of self confidence, a specific role, external stimuli, emotions, and self esteem all must be present (as cited in Perry, 2011). Furthermore, either internal or external support must be present (as cited in White, 2009).…

Chapters 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 have influenced my personal philosophy at a more intrapersonal perspective. The theorist of self care by Orem, goal attainment by King, adaptation by Sister Callista, system model by Johnson and Neuman, the four conservative principles by Levine, and unitary human beings by Rogers are basics to my personal nursing philosophy. It is a kind of self involvement and discovery of what was hidden and obviously stated by these theorists that help me identify myself with my own nursing image. Did anything surprise you? What?…

In this sense, according to Bandura, self-efficacy is not just about bringing forth change via desire but also about whether an individual actually perceives they can enable that change. Bandura's philosophy of self-efficacy encompasses four aspects of achieving high self-efficacy, that is; mastery of experiences, seeing others like ourselves accomplish their goals, surrounding ourselves with people who positively impact us, and controlling negative emotions can lead to higher self-efficacy. In contrast, self-esteem is defined by one's perception or estimate of their own confidence, capabilities, self-worth, behaviours, appearance, and beliefs. This differs…
