This book describes which improvements would last that are caused by technology. This book also offers a brief description of the improvement of violence. This source is definitely the most used source for my essay. It was published 7 years ago, but as compared to my other resources, it seems current enough to reference.

Jovanovic, Boyan. “The Technology Cycle and Inequality.” The review of Economic Studies.

76. 2(2009): 707-729. Oxford University Press.

The article gave great information and background about how old technology was preferred to use before. It also provides examples positive relation between income and imports of technology. This source, although better, is not one of the best ones for my essay.

Liker, Jeffrey K, Carol J Haddad and Jennifer Karlin. “Perspective on Technology and Work

Organization.” Annual Review of Sociology. 25. (1999): 576-596. Annual Reviews. This article provides lots of great details about the ways of technology that made our life easier. It also gives lots of information about how perspectives are changing with the development of technology. This article is not recently published but the information it’s giving are so much related to my topic. This article gives plenty of useful facts about my research, but it is not as good as a source as some of the other sources

Kelly sets up the stage for his argument by creating a scenario in where many people will be unemployed and replaced by robots. Kelly tries to make the reader feel fear of losing their job and only having the option to give it up. He engages the reader by setting up a future in where people will have many benefits when robots and machines replace human labor from many areas of work (299). Also, the author supports his argument with evidence from the 19th century, where farmers lost their agriculture job and found new industrial job (299). He tries to make the reader think the change will be a pattern from the past and that the economy would be better off with robots doing the work.…

In his book, “A Culture of Improvement”, Robert Friedel argues that most technological changes comes through the pursuit of improvement. A standard definition from the dictionary for improvement would be a thing that could make something better. However, Friedel describe improvement as a culture where society believes that “things could be done better”. He also clearly state that the culture pf improvement is not the same as the faith in progress or the belief that a necessary direction of history or human experience was forward. It is rather the simpler understanding that people have the ability to improve their lives.…

In the article “Better than Human: Why Robots Will — and Must — Take Our Jobs” by Kevin Kelly he argues that we should welcome our robots because instead of causing problems they are initially helping. The main idea Kelly tried to get across in his article is that robots are now taking over human jobs but they are also creating and replacing humans with better jobs.…

Kevin Kelly’s article starts off by talking about how automation slowly replaced half the work force during the industrial revolution. He mentions that those who during that time period were replaced did not sit idle but found and created new jobs for themselves and others. Mr. Kelly uses this idea of the work force being replaced by steadily improving automation, yet the replaced work force creates new jobs instead of sitting idle, to propel his idea of people being replaced by machines as a positive thing. Mr. Kelly talks about how robots already do the work that humans are incapable of doing, such as working in hazardous locations doing hard labor. Thankfully Mr. Kelly points out that robots will slowly take over white collar jobs, do…

He states that humans will always work, but that jobs might differ from what they are now. Pointing out another issue skeptics seem to have, Bailey addresses the question of whether automation has made people work less. He clarifies technology helps make production faster and more accurate, but most importantly easier to complete.…
