Chris has earned many prestigious awards as he was badged with a SEAL Insignia. He also was awarded with the Rifle Marksman Medal, and the Pistol Marksman Medal. American Sniper is based off Chris Kyle, known as the deadliest sniper in the United States military with over 160 confirmed kills in Iraq war. The story tells of Chris growing up in Odessa, Texas a high school dropout who had interest in ‘breaking” horses and eventually became to be horseman. He did this to raise money for his passion of being a bronco rider until a sudden tragic injury occurred when he was flipped by a bronco and could no longer participate. While this happened his put interest into other things such as becoming a ranch manager, but then attempted to join the Navy and went through vigorous training such the well famous “Hell week” and came out with his dream accomplished as he was the only 10% of the starting class to graduate and move on and was placed in SEAL …show more content…
He was fed up with constantly close calls of combat where life flashes before your eyes. With the result of this he decided to take a new path to becoming a sniper for the Navy where he would be able to on the battlefield more and less shots being constantly fired. Chris’s first big jump in combat was fighting against Bin Laden’s army, al Qaeda. At this point Chris had built up a great deal of confidence where he wrote "After the first kill, the others come easy. I don 't have to psych myself up, or do something special mentally I look through the scope, get my target in the cross hairs, and kill my enemy, before he kills one of my people.". Chris was an excellent sniper with great range, but what made him the best was his intelligence that we had justifying times to pull the trigger and who was being shot. Apart from being a story of war and sniper rifles romance always seems to find it’s way as Chris involves his marriage with Taya. He includes the long distance relationship and the 2 children worrying if their father would ever come home or not. During Chris’s time spent in Iraq he was pin pointing Iraq’s left and right. During the war Iraq had put a bounty on his head for $20,000 and was given the name Al-Shaitan Ramadi” - “the Devil of Ramadi.”
