Advertisements are beginning to advertise much more than just their products. New advertising techniques focus on grabbing the viewers’ attention, instead of showing their product. In one advertisement a group of friends is showing smiling on a roof, all wearing nice suits. The ad focuses more on these well-dressed individuals, who appear to be having a fun time. When this is done, it completely takes all attention away from what they are trying to sell, which in this case was cologne. In another ad there is a group of friends all wearing suits gathered around a pool table. Again the ad is implying that by using or wearing their product, the consumer’s life will be improved. The last ad pictured an expensive jet on the runway, and beside it …show more content…
The first thing you see when looking at the ad is not the product, but instead the well-dressed people on top of a roof somewhere in the city. Lower down the page in bold it says the words “Be The Evolution” implying that this cologne can make someone one step ahead of everyone else . Also, that if you do not use it you will be behind. The actual product is shown at the bottom of the page. The advertisement tries to get the viewer thinking about everything that’s going on the ad way before revealing what the product is. When taking a step back and looking at the ad it is obvious that cologne will only make you smell different, and will not have many more positive …show more content…
Ads are rarely made depicting people who look upset, and when they do it is only because they have not tried this new product yet. Advertisements make it seem that their product is better, even though it is identical to their competitors.. Even though it is not actually better, it will make you better somehow. A lot of products today sell for much more than they are worth, just because they have a certain brand name on them. People then buy the products that have higher price tags because they are led to believe they are worth more. Almost everyone is guilty of buying a name brand product just because it is often thought it is better one.
