Free use of fire Arms in America Do you know that every 12 hours a person is assaulted in U.S? The FBI shows us that more than 1.2 million people had any kind of gun event in 2013. Also it is known that in 2012 there were more than 14.000 murders by fire arms (1). Even though it is true that there have been several incidents caused by the use of fire arms, the facts mentioned earlier show us that the American people are looking for free gun ownership mostly due to self-protecting reasons, such as to have safe houses, to be prepared against crimes and assaults, and to avoid children abduction. One of the prevalent reasons that American opted to free own gun is having safer houses. More than 73% of the burglary in 2012 was in residences (2). It is mentioned by NRA (National Rifle Association) “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” (1). I have known that police recommends to have a gun in our houses as a good house safety practice. The use of guns can help parents to protect their children. Over the last decades, Americans have suffered from anxiety about child abduction. These episodes of alarm often have as much to do with how Americans perceive or characterize child abduction with the actual number of these crimes. These perceptions influence what the public imagines is most dangerous to children in the society (4). One of the latent risks for children is the lack of surveillance in the most part of the streets. For instances, in my neighborhood you can see many children walking alone in the streets and their parents seem not to be aware about the risk.
