Tsar Nicholas II was well educated as he was learning about Russian academics, but he did not have any experience on how to rule the Russian Empire, and it was a task he had to face. He decided to appoint himself into a field where he had no past experience because his father never taught him how to properly govern a country. This led to World War I because he was unable to control his army as well as his army. Nicholas believes he is the only one that is capable to lead Russia into war. Also, he also believed that the people he elected were not well fit for their position and were unable to properly run a nation. (Lilleker). His decision to appoint himself as the general costed Russia thousands of lives which could have been prevented if the previous general was not removed. Moreover, he did not study about any war tactics or strategic plans which led him to carry out tactics without really thinking about them. His greed for power ultimately led him to not surrender his rank to a skilled and strategic person who could be capable to strategize plans. Tsar Nicholas II gave his wife the power to rule Russia, basically giving her the throne. Alexandra met a monk named Rasputin who she believed he had magical powers since he healed her son who suffered from hemophilia, which is a medical condition where the blood does not clot and causes the victim to bleed out severely. Since she also did not know how to rule a country, she relied on Rasputin’s input to make decision on political matters since he is now of importance to her. Additionally, “To make matters worse, the Empress found herself incapable of making many government decisions and came to rely with increasing desperation on the shady Siberian mystic Grigory Rasputin, a peasant who had an inexplicable ability to soothe the suffering of the hemophiliac heir to the throne” (Quenoy). Furthermore, letting her rule the country was also not a smart idea due to the fact that she also did not have any experience of what to do or what to expect. On top of that, Alexandra trusted Rasputin was also equally as bad since he abused his power for his own sake. Both Nicholas II and Alexander are unfit to rule since they both don’t have any experience on how to properly rule and benefit the country.
