Intake Interview Reflection

Video #2: Intake Interview For the purposes of this assignment, I decided to do a mock interview with someone from class, whom I was already comfortable with. What I found in recording the intake interview was that it was a lot different than previous counseling sessions that we had practiced before. I was surprised because rather than making it easier by having specific questions to ask, I feel like I struggled with having to obtain answers to all of the questions on the PASE sheet. As can be seen in the video, I skipped around quite a bit when going through the intake with my client. While it didn’t go as smoothly as I would have liked, having this experience and watching over the video will help me in the future when I conduct these kind of interviews. One of the initial suggestions I made to my client was to reach out to her classmates, as well as her professor. While she had said that she had a few friends in the class that she was comfortable discussing with, I asked her to reach out to students that she had never talked to before so that she could possibly become more comfortable in the class environment. I also told my client that it might be beneficial for her to reach out to the instructor, because if he is aware of how she is feeling, he might be more cognizant of helping her become immersed in the class.
Join a multicultural club. While my client related that she was already in a club that mentored students in her culture, I asked her if she would like more information on resources to get more involved in her culture or if she would be interesting in joining organizations that are multicultural. She related that she thought it would be nice to get involved with a multicultural organization because it would help her become more immersed in the culture of the school. I let her know that I would gather more information about what the school has to offer in regard to multicultural clubs and
