Coontz adds that good childcare could actually be a positive for the children because it would help a child develop social and economic skills and
4 relationships. Working mothers make men more hands on fathers, which benefits the children. It causes boys to become more empathetic while girls have more success in the future as they enter non-traditional fields. Although there can be negatives to the evolution of marriage and family, Coontz believes that the future is still bright. Divorce still occurs but it can be minimized by weeding out unsuitable partners and knowing the causes of divorce. The existence of single parent families will still occur but there are benefits to such an arrangement like that of increased communication between the single parent and child. There will always be challenges to marriage but the prospects are still good and filled with possibilities. Every type of family will face stresses and weaknesses the only way to help such things from occurring is to “stop pointing fingers and instead extend a helping hand because the clock can’t be turned
