Then I quickly ran to the back door of my house when suddenly, I bumped into an officer.
“Sorry, sir.” I responded.
“Excuse miss. Miss why are you out so late at night?” Said the officer.
“I stayed too long at my friend’s house, sir.” I said.
“Also, why did the Parliament make the Stamp act, sir?” I said.
“Uhh…That’s none of your business, miss.” He replied, then quickly ran off. After, that incident with the officer I sprinted back to my house. As I opened the door, I heard my parents talking about something.
“ How are we supposed to pay for the letter,” said Mom.
“Don’t worry. I will ask my boss if I could have some more money tomorrow,” replied Dad. “Just get some sleep, and we will figure it out tomorrow.” Then he kissed Mom goodnight.
“You can come in now, Averill.” Dad uttered.
“How did you know I was there,” I whispered.
“I could hear you,” Dad responded.
“Oh,” I replied. “Well, I will go to bed now.” I whispered. So I went to bed. In the morning, no colonists were fighting, shouting, or resisting outside anymore.
“Colonists finally gave up, I guess.” Marcus said gloomily.
“Yeah, I kind of liked them with a fire in their hearts to rebel. I guess the fire…..blew out.” Mom
