Causes Of Violence In Video Games Essay

Many people have speculated the cause behind school shootings is mainly violent video games. No one ever thinks about other causes. The real problem may be much deeper than that. There are several ingredients that go into the cocktail of violence ,that is so prevalent in our society. When tragedy hits and horrific happenings occur, we scramble for a quick answer and a quick fix. The senseless tragedies that happen are unnecessary. It proves that catastrophes can strike anywhere and anytime. Our sense of security is shaken to its very core. At first glance, we search for obvious answers. Violence in video games, plays into the scenario that school shooters voice as one of the causes. But studies have shown that video games may play a positive role in children 's development. Some games are intellectually stimulating and serve a useful purpose. Little is said about the brutality that children view on tv on a daily basis. Tv violence used to be blamed in cases of destructiveness in the past before video games became popular. Back in the day music was blamed for bloodshed as well. In today 's society when savagery occurs, we the search for a culprit, but the truth is there is never just one cause. Terrorism such as school massacres has multiple causes that come together. No matter what single element we focus on, whether it be violence in video games,drugs ,being in a gang or other mental health issues--not one of them is sufficient to cause aggression. But when you start putting them together, aggression becomes reasonably predictable. So instead of us just looking at pieces of the picture, we need to consider the whole picture as we might miss a valuable component. With that being said, it is time for us as a society to step up and take
