In the article, “Social Networking Sites and Privacy Issues Concerning Youths,” written by Saswati Gangopadhyay and Debarati Dhar, they also argue that there are many unknown friends on social networking sites which contributes to a list of strangers on your social network with personal information about you. Although, social media, can be useful to reconnect with old friends and family it contains more negative impacts. It is a good way to keep in touch with some of my family members that live in another country. My grandma and other family members from Mexico stay in contact with me through Facebook. Although, social media can also be a dangerous place as we hear stories of online predators or cyberbullying. It is important to know the risks of social networking sites and be careful while using them. I tend to look through my social networking sites and waste most of my time instead of doing something more productive. I think that the world would go crazy if social networking sites suddenly ended for good as we are so attached to these social networking sites that it has become a part of our daily routine.
