Increasing the amount of information that is distributed to women in schools and health-care facilities can be a solution in which women can learn more about domestic violence. The first step is to allow women to educate themselves and ways to help prevent this epidemic from continuing. Secondly, society as to educated not just victims, but all women. A public education effort is needed to break the silence among families and get the conversation going. It is important to reduce social tolerance, and to increase the level of social responsibility by promoting individual and collective action regarding domestic violence against women. According to Safe Horizon (n.d) advocates, women between ages 18 to 34 are more likely for violence with an intimate partner to occur at this least once in their life. Victims need to evaluate the aspects and cycle of domestic abuse for prevention purposes. By educating all women, they will have the knowledge necessary to identify themselves as a victim and therefore will have the chance to speak up about it when asked by a physician. The National Criminal Justice Administration (2010) reported that of the population that is effected by domestic violence, only 23.1% go reported which leaves 76.9% that go unreported every year, because they feel that their situation is only minor. This due to lack of education provided on the subject in most cases.
