Do men’s Suicide rates have something to do with how active they are? Men since they were little are taught not to express a lot of emotion. If they want to cry or be upset they simple can’t show it. Males try to distract themselves and simply suppress that emotion, there are 117 suicides per day and 7 out of 10 of them are males. Guys find it weak to try to show or express emotion but “to actually die by one 's own hands may be viewed as masculine, decisive, and strong” –Natalie Angier, “Why Men Don’t Last”. Also the more active a person is and “thin” often means the unhappier a person is compared to a “fat” person. Thin people also have to be doing something, but a chubby person is more relaxed and enjoys actual life a whole lot more. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the texts Why Men Don’t Last: Self-Destruction as a Way of Life and That Lean and Hungry Look by Natalie Angier and Suzanne Britt.

They can expect the world for what it is and just have fun. She also says that it is more likely for women to be chubbier than men because men ultimately lift harder objects than women because men are supposed to be stronger. Which is why men are more prone to one day committing suicide because they never have to show their weak side when one day they feel like they just can’t take it anymore. Most women are scared to just end their lives but in other terms they are also the most brave.
