Women being at the bottom of the barrel every time. However, in Islamic history women played a key role throughout history, that some may assume has been quieted during modern times. The women closest to the Prophet Muhammad were his supporters and partners. The earlier women had all the rights that men had and their role was greatly needed and appreciated (Ernst, 142). The gender equality is not a new idea or concept for the Islamic community because it was also the shared idea amongst the Jewish and Christian communities. It allowed men to be independent and perform task that may seem womanly and women learn to be strong and war ready. This attitude was eventually taken away by European influence (Ernst, 146). Art is a key factor in explaining and following civilizations throughout history. Much can be interpreted through knowing the origin of the art piece, the time period surrounding it, and the economic climate. Everything a person sees or experiences makes them curious, curiosity is what keeps the human race growing and evolving. Islamic art is a more complex subject than one may assume it to be, therefore the term used for it and how it helped pull forward. Some art wasn’t created by the Islamic community rather for it. This category of art is known as Islamicate, created from the people and regions surrounding the majority Muslim community that appreciated or wanted to immerse themselves.
