How To Become A Positive Leader?

Motivational author Alexander Lockhart once said, “Be a leader, not a follower” (Look Forward, Not), this is what I try to live by day in, and day out. I have been told this from a young age of being taught what I should, and should not do in the future. Lockhart emphases these words through his books known as Portable Pep Talk and Positive Charges. Becoming a leader is important, because someone needs to inforce things into the right direction. People all around the community, and world make wrong choices each day, so I believe in becoming a positive leader.
The week of June 20th-26th 2016, life hit me square in the face, when I attended the FFA WLC (Washington Leadership Conference) in Washington D.C. This has become one of the most memorable, life changing experiences, through the things I not only herd about, but seen personally. I made a bunch of new friends around the country that all share a hobby in not only agriculture, but leadership. During the five-day event, members learned how to “become effective leaders by learning their purpose, how to value people, how to take action and how to serve others” (Washington Leadership Conference). I have brought back home many new leadership skills that I learned. My largest belief from this trip is that I need to be the leader, and have others follow in a positive way. This once in a lifetime opportunity will be an experience that I will never forget as it has changed my view on things. Leadership should involve change, and I believe that people need to make a change for the better. Who would not want to be a leader? Who wants to be remembered as a person who did something about it? I do, I want to be that person that will help, when asked, and will provide assistance for the good.
