On September 24, 1896 Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was brought into the town of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Fitzgerald attended school at the Academy of St. Paul, where is first writing was recorded in a school newspaper as a detective story written when he was thirteen years old. If you think about it green means “go” in our world. The green in the book represented the unattainable dream or future. Going back in time where Fitzgerald shared that green light toward Zelda before it became an unrealistic reality for him. Nick says in the Great Gatsby, “Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that is no matter- tomorrow we run farther, stretch out our arms farther….” This represented how Gatsby 's dream of Daisy was in the past, this matches up with the passing of Zelda, who in the story represented Daisy. The passing of the green light was a way Fitzgerald put Zelda in the past after admitting her into the Highland Hospital.
