Throughout your years of school from elementary school all the way to high school, you’ve always had your fair share of favorite teachers and your least favorite teachers that you’ve pretty much dreaded having. Think about your favorite teacher of all time and why you liked them so much – was it because of the way they explained the material to you in an impactful way or even just the positive relationship you had with them. Just think about it, why were they your favorite? Now think about your least favorite teacher. You know that one teacher you just couldn’t stand or bother to deal with – think about why you disliked them so much. We have all had our favorite and least favorite teachers throughout our lives and you want to know why? That’s …show more content…
But how well do you think someone is going to observe a teacher by just watching for a few minutes? How will they truly see the way the teachers perform in the classroom? There is no way someone can observe a teachers stable and fun relationship with their students in just a few minutes of watching the class. Why can’t the students make these decisions instead? After all, we are the ones who spend the most time with the teachers during the year. In an article from The New York Times “Grading Teachers, With Data from Class” by Farhad Manjoo, a young humanities teacher from a charter high school in Oakland, Calif had be given results from a survey her students had taken about her performance in class. On the survey, many of her students had specified that they felt she wasn’t connecting with them. Now, evidently the majority of the students aren’t going to be pleased with their teacher, but what is important is the wholesome relationship that students have with their teacher. Students are supposed to connect with their teacher so they are able to talk to their teachers about their insights on whatever they are being taught. I feel that it’s important for students to evaluate their teachers execution of teaching because even though not all kids will have a good relationship with their teacher, if the majority of the class simply cannot build a connection with their teacher in order for them to learn in a safe and healthy environment, then it is clear the teacher isn’t performing

As I research more my topic of teachers’ part in moral and character development, I related to the statement on page 149, “like it or not, who we are and what we do impact our students. By virtue of being the teacher, our words, actions, nonverbal communication, and attitudes become part of every academic lesson we plan and implement, as well as every teacher-student encounter and interaction”. This is really the mic-drop statement for my project II paper, the crux of why I chose this topic. None of us is perfect as a person and students get to the point where they realize that, but they spend so much time with their teachers, nearly as much as with their own families, that teachers need to always be cognizant of what is being said and done, left unsaid and undone, leading by example, modeling appropriate behaviors in and out of instruction. I refer again to the teacher interviews I did as this was a question I covered with them as well: do you think how you live outside of school affects how you are as a teacher?…

In all my years of education, no teacher has inspired me in a subject as much as Mr. Karmali, my calculus teacher in my senior year of high school. Mehebub S. Karmali, was a old asian-indian, in his mid sixties, who was proud to be teaching high school students the concepts of calculus. At the beginning of the year, I thought that he would be my worst nightmare from how my sister, and my upperclassmen friends talked about him. However, at the end of the year, I realized he was the complete opposite, he was the most dedicated teacher in the entire school. He was not just being strict, giving hard tests, or giving terrible grades because he wanted to be mean, he was passionate about the subject, and was dedicated to teach the students.…

Fellow classmates, in an environment where we spend a minimum of thirteen years in school this should be an environment that we enjoy. Learning should not be an activity that we dread everyday. We spend eight hours at school each day with a multitude of teachers. While some teachers are well equipped to do their job, there is a group that can only be described as teachers who hate teaching. Instead of making you feel excited about the subject, they make you dread it.…

A teacher who listens to others and treats other’s things and feelings with care should be key (Patten et al, 2000). As we have learned in class, teachers attitude matters just as much as the teacher’s knowledge. In “White Teacher: I Thought I Could Teach my Black Students. Then One Told Me Why I Couldn't”, we see the struggle of Brook Cohen, who is more than qualified to teach. Cohen stopped teaching English in Los Angeles Unified School District in order to pursue a PhD. Here he gained access to the best knowledge on how to get the best results in the classroom. But as we learn in his encounter, talking about doing something and then actually executing it in a classroom are very different.…

My observation hours were spent in a kindergarten classroom at McFall Elementary in Middleville, my home town. I observed Mrs. Young’s class of twenty-five students. I enjoyed observing in this classroom since it was my former teacher and classroom when I was in kindergarten as well. While observing, I could see many different subjects being taught, and multiple ways in which they were taught. Also, it was interesting to notice the reactions the kids gave towards a certain teaching style or towards a specific activity.…
