People spread folklore in an informal manner usually via word of mouth. When talking about folklore, we think of everything that was once told to us, and we then talk to others. Many of us seem to have a different idea of folklore, and what it really is. In the next chapter, I will discuss my pass experiences with folklore, what kind of culture I have regarding folklore, and the misconceptions I have about the discipline.
I still have an idea about what my experiences with folklore were. I remember one of the most famous legends my grandmother used to tell me while sitting around big firewood under a tree at night was the story about how the Baoule people (one of the dialect between the many we have in my country) arrived in Cote d’Ivoire. Marriage usually takes place early, especially for women in rural areas. Motherhood thus begins at a young age and by age of fourteen almost one half of the girls is married. funerals are central to several ethnics’ groups. Among the Akan, (one ethnic group of my country) when there is death in a village, all villages shave their heads. Among the Baoule another ethnic group of my country, burial is secret even for someone as illustrious as our first president Felix Houphouet-Boigny. A misconception I have about folklore is that because it deals with things from the past it is not really relevant or accurate to the new society. In addition, many people do not really believe that every story that was once told to them really happened, so they do not really pay attention to it and give a meaning to folklore. In conclusion, folklore is every type of story that people tell to others all over the world and in different ways. It is expressed through what we say, what we do, what we believe, and what we make. Each country has a different view of folklore,
