The article focuses on Mrs. Dooley, a middle school teacher in New York, and tries to provide students with a well-structured environment for learning. The department as a whole decided that all classrooms were to be rearranged to improve the children’s learning. The authors discuss “ Teachers, for example, are expected to design classroom spaces that are conductive to students’ individual learning styles”(236). The authors discovered that although Mrs. Dooley was unaware, the way her classroom was set up effected how students would learn and retain the information she was teaching. The environment in which a child learns is ranked highly important in order for success.
