1. This painting includes a man and a woman kissing by a window. The couple is standing near an open window with four openings and light curtains. Looking out of the window there are 3 human-like figures and a tall, dark, green tree. There is also a building with multiple windows, some windows are dark and some have light coming out of them.
2. You can tell that the couple is kissing though, neither of their faces have any facial features on them. Them kissing, represents an act of love that signifies passion and sexual desire. Both the man and the woman’s face are blended together, making it look as if they share faces. I think that their faces are combined because it symbolizes their unity as a couple. Also, that nothing can tear apart

In this piece the color stands out to me the most. Compared to “The Kiss III, 1896” it is much more colorful, compared to just plain black and white. The colors he chose to use set a completely different mood. He primarily chose to incorporate blues, and greens. The blue and the green undertones he uses are calm and soothing yet, still draw much attention because of the way he uses different shades of each color. He also chose to paint the couples clothing a much darker, almost black color, which makes them stand out against the warm and cool tones he uses with the blues and greens. His choice of color stood out to me because it is not just simply black and white which lets out a much darker vibe. Although Much did not choose to concentrate on adding colors such as red which tend to proclaim love, passion and desire. His choice of colors are still colors bring out a romantic mood and peaceful mood. The colors he includes in the painting are still not vibrant and flashy yet he still finds a way to make the blue and green undertones stand out in a way that is eye-catching. The fact that he was not so obvious with using a red color scheme for this painting make it much more significant because in a way he is redefining the blue and green color he chose to use by allowing them to be subtler and simple versus loud and …show more content…
I do believe in the message encoded in this work, I agree that being with someone can be a very beautiful thing yet it can also be the most dangerous thing to pour out all of your emotions and allow yourself to be in such a vulnerable state. However, the overall message is a positive and a beautiful one. My gut reaction was that this piece reminded me of me and my own relationship with my boyfriend. We don’t stand by windows and make out, but it somehow reminded me of us just because of the fact that you can tell they are in love by looking at them and I also like to think that people can tell that we are in love by just looking at us. My reaction is sustained, every time I look at it, I am able to feel the same way I did as my first

Color: The painting has a combination of complimentary colors that give the piece a warm look. The last center of interest is the part where St. Michael the archangel vanquishes a group of heretics. There are many aspects of the painting that add to the tone including color, placement, and amount of action in the painting. Although there are many contrasting colors in the painting that would ordinarily give a busy feeling, they instead give off a calming sense. The colors, that give a cartoonish feel, make the audience feel relaxed due to the types of green and red tones used. The tone comes off as peaceful due to the organization of the piece by choosing to add only the necessary pieces and show that a painting can be simple and still have impact. Van Gogh uses color in a very deliberate and effective way in The Night Café. He selects the colors not based on his visual interpretation of the room but on the psychological and emotional effects it has on its occupants. He explains to his brother Theo, in a letter, that he uses the red and green in an attempt to express the terrible passions of human nature. The use of these colors helps to illustrate the intensity of the Café de la Gare and provoke the emotions of the viewer who may relate the bar scene to alcoholism or depression. He also balances the wooden browns and yellows of the lower half of the painting with a dark wooden clock adorned with a vibrant yellow face at the top of the painting.…
