However, when sports were created there were specific guidelines that helped in deciding whether or not something is a sport. Those include but are not limited athletic ability, physical in nature, competition, equipment, muscular fatigue and ever evolving rules. Even now, if one were to look at what people classify as sports there would be those characteristics that tie them together even though there may be completely different rules. For example, in soccer you cannot use your hands except if you are the goalie, in basketball you cannot use your feet and in baseball you use a bat.
