Binge drinking causes liver inflammation and the liver could stop working. It causes steatosis, or fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. All of these problems are diseases, and if the disease worsens, the liver could fail. Liver failure is a life-threatening condition, whereas if someone were to not get a transplant, they would die. Alcohol has many long and short term effects. According to “Short and Long Term Effects,” alcohol produces lower ambition, a reduction in tension, relation, and slow brain activity. In heavier drinking, slurred speech, sleepiness, and an increase in urination may occur. With high doses of alcohol; vomiting, blackouts (commonly known as passing out), and alcohol poisoning are most likely to happen. As stated before, a large number of teenagers participate in underage drinking. According to the article, “Underage Drinking,” published by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse, underage drinking is quite common. In a 2013 survey by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 35.15% of fifteen year olds had claimed they had at least one drink in their life. This is why coaches should be required to test athletes for marijuana. Coaches should have the power to test athletes, with or without suspicion. If an athlete tests positive, then he or should would be fine. If an athlete were to test negative, he or she should be charged with drug paraphernalia and also be suspended. The consequences for the consumption of illegal drugs should be severe and not forgotten. If an athlete chooses to be inconsiderate and use drugs, he or she should be punished in the most harsh way. After tobacco enters the bloodstream, it releases epinephrine, or adrenaline. Epinephrine then attacks the central nervous system. A person’s blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate will increase during this time.
