Women such as Tammy Duckworth, (Democratic House of Representative from Illinois- District 8 who flew a combat plane in the Iraq War), Susan B. Anthony (Feminine activist who committed to women’s social equality and the abolition movement), or Hillary Clinton (first women to be considered a serious candidate for U.S. Presidency), all represent the ability of women to fulfill massive roles that were presumed to be fit for only men. Men have to recognize that women are not specifically tied down to the domestic sphere any longer. Our nations women are capable of functioning in other professions and roles other than those set with maternal jurisdiction. This is due to women’s entrance in education which came as a result of the early waves of Feminism in 19th century America and their entry in the workforce. This is largely due to the United States becoming left leaning. Americans are shifting their mentality from Traditional Conservatives to Libertarians. Today, “31% of Americans” consider their views as liberal, matching the 31% of Americans who describe their views as conservative (as according to the Christian Science Monitor). The offspring of Baby Boomers, Generation X, and some of Generation Y, have developed a free spirited mentality in contrast to their parents. Generation Y, Millennials, and Boomlets are more accepting of concepts like same-sex marriage, anti-religious sentiments, and of course, women 's empowerment. As the U.S. becomes more accepting, the evolution of mentality strengthens the possibility of mending the relationship between man and women. This free-spirited attitude sways the younger generation to fight for equality due to their liberal mentality.
In addition, the foundation of modern relationships are based on equality. Traditions like “men pay the check” or “men drive the car” are left behind, as women and men begin to identify as equal. This tears down the social barrier men have that orders them to be the “gentlemen” that has to provide for his lady or the idea women have to be lathered in gifts and affection at all time. Now, the U.S. sees the splitting of the check and women behind the wheel without much of a guilty
