Literacy In Schools

In this present time, many of the college graduate students are more illiterate than before. They have a college degree on their hands without good reading skills. Numerous researches and statistics prove that our literacy is falling behind in the global academic. This result is cause by different elements, such as unified education system, technology improvement in order to distracts students, schools, and parents are less expected on their children than before, also teenagers are not fully developed to have self-control. Followed by the literacy falls, our posterities are unable to competition with foreign teenagers. So, it is time to prevent these falls and to patch the academic gap.

Parents abrogated the traditional method of forcing children to learn instead of proved “set free” method in order to learn freely. In this method, many children get the freedom to choose what they can do in their life. And they think this is the best way to support their children. Teachers would be less forced with their students. Because in these days children are protected well by laws, teachers would get trouble by forcing a student, and might even a slight corporal punishment. They might be sent into jail just a second after a slight punishment on students. So, some of the students become presumptuous, arrogant, and irreverent with their teachers. Students do not respect and listen to our grateful teachers. They frolic and play on cell phones in front of the teachers during class time. I had interview my older cousin. We talked about the change of education system between her young age time and right now. In our conversation, she told me that back then teachers and parents were more strict than they are right now. She had been forced to learn and even punished by her teachers and parents just because she did not finish her homework. She thought that she would have gotten childhood mental problems by all the forcement and punishment. But after she got into University with straight A’s, she was grateful with what her teachers and parents did. She got accepted by one most famous Universities of America, University of California, Berkeley. She saw the system had been transformed. Students get to choose what they want to do without seniority forcement, without forcement teenagers are too naive to decide and they might choose the wrong side. The bad side is they get too much freedom, and their brains are not fully developed with self-control and choose the correct things to do, such as spend time on internet, party to get drunk, or even do drugs.
